In other news (other than East Flatbush that is), I got the Matmos 12" The West today (got my s://kimo order, yay!) This is superb as usual - these guys are fantastic as a rule - with a really interesting sound for electronic music. With contributions from Dave Pajo of Tortoise and various others on real instruments, and all sorts of weird samples as usual, they get an interesting amalgam of organic sounds and electronic digital sounds (cut-ups, etc) which results in fascinating listening. Will have to be listened to repeatedly. Only thing I can compare this to right now is the Autechre Tortoise remixes (very much recommended too!) I also got the Bola - pj did very well in putting them into little plastic zip-loc(TM) bags or whatever they're called. Mine wasn't ripped, but I'll re-glue the edges anyway. Haven't listened to it yet :( - too much. I'll do a review soon hopefully. Got the V/VM Turkey & Stuffing 7"s. Anyone having trouble sorting out sides A & B should check the numbers in the run-out groove. The last digit increases by one over the four sides, so you can work out the order (same method as for the Diskono [x] and [y] 7"s). But can anyone tell me whether my suspicion that they are variously at 33 and 45 rpms on different tracks? Obviously from the talking on one track at least, they should really be at 33rpm, but some just sound better at 45. Only heard Turkey so far - great but not as amazingly brilliant as last year's effort, Whine & Missingtoe... That 7" also seems to me to be at different RPMs on different tracks. I much prefer the Hellinterface track at 33, but mostly I think it ought to go at 45??? Not sure here. Also got the Thurston Moore Root remix project on Lo recordings, in the ltd edition vacuum cleaner bag packaging - fucking mad man. Haven't heard this either yet. Hopefully, some more reviews coming in a day or two. That's all for now!
