In fact, it's unlikely any did. Thats because Rich wasn't there. >in sight. All the night's DJs, including Plastikman, Hello? Richie wasn't even there! >For three hours after the first screening, Plastikman (born Richie >Hawtin) mixed hard-techno songs with >'70s and '80s pop tunes, including Roxy Music's "Angel Eyes," Michael >Jackson's "Thriller" and Soft >Cell's "Tainted Love." WTF? First it was Cylob DJ'ing, then Luke Vibert then Grant. Luke played most of the above. >"I love this sort of music, but what is it about this sort of thing that >just attracts boys?" she asked. "I >don't understand." Its the women with beards. This is a cool video, funnier than _Daddy_. Chris (Cunningham) was really nervous about the showing but everyone was totally into it, cheering whenever they saw an Aphex logo. The video track is different than the single, featuring a kind of slower hip-hop version at the beginning - and nope, Rich doesn't want this video version to have a separate release :( Grant played loads of tracks by this new artist, Bogdan something - they are insane. Imagine Caustic Window crossed with Squarepusher, really mad-assed stuff. Apparently he has delivered three (three!) LPs to Rephlex. The single is great - really funky, crammed full of hard-disk recorded blips and squeals and 'oooo' vocals. Theres a track with a mathemtical equation as a name which is similar to the live track _Crappy_ but with no acid in it. _Nannou_ finishes the 12" off - a beautiful melodious, quiet track made from sampling an old music box Rich found. Great 12" - promo copies have different artwork too. New Squarepusher _Budakhan Mindphone_ is amazing too. I prefer it to _Rotted_ its a bit less experimental. The opening track is really beautiful, the rest are rhythmic and reverb'ed. One track has Toms live bass controlling an analgue synth. Nice sleeve work that looks similar to the _Quoth_ cover. || [CiM] || xxx_@xxxxxxx.xxx || - ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
