yes, of course it is. i apologise to the list if it seems that i'm trying
to be an anarchist and talk about off-topic music here. after all, it would
be hell if people were to talk about music that is beyond their current
small-minded tastes, past the confines of these 10 or so labels and their
imitators that the heads here glorify. after all, we KNOW that house music
has never ventured into the territory of idm, and vice versa. we KNOW that,
don't we? and imagine if people actually talked about different music here
for a change, about discovering music, instead of the oh-so-worthwhile
clique-ridden sniping and backbiting that this list has become an open sewer
for, perpetuated by people who have no idea what goes on in the real world.

no, we must keep our idm race strong and pure, free from that dirty and
common house music. we must never talk about the early days of rephlex,
when they were, to slightly mis-quote, 'a new force at work in house music'.
or even mention the disgraceful name of global communication, who have
obviously lost their minds since their glorious days as the vanguards of u.k
intelligent techno. we must sweep all this under the carpet, along with
recent 'mistakes', like boards of canada remixing 'trapped' by colonel
abrahms. these days, who wants to hear a boring 4-4 beat going
boom-tish-boom-tish with a tacky female vocal wailing over the top? not me,
that's for sure.

but anyway. where does this enormous prejudice against house records come
from? do you actually listen to a great deal of it? where is your source
for house music? the radio? the local sharon and tracy clubs that you
cross the street to avoid? do you think this gives you a great deal of
insight into the house music scene? i hope the meaningless little comment
above is just a phase you're going through. because when you think you KNOW
IT ALL, you are fucked for SURE.

np - anything by carl craig, or anything on future sound records, or
anything by herbert, or anything by larry heard, or anything on a multitude
of house labels you've never heard of, or anything else that will fucking
piss you off. happy valentine's day!
