In light of the tragedy of September 11, I wondered what kind of music I would turn to for this Saturday's show. I picked several pieces that I would call comfort music: Pharoah Sanders, Coltrane, Feldman, Part, MazzaCane Connors, etc., along with some new releases I received at the station. Although the show is not dedicated specifically to the victims, survivors, and families affected throughout the world, I do hope that perhaps something that I played today made someone reconnect with the magic and power that music brings to our lives. +++++ *Pharoah Sanders: Harvest Time [Pharoah] India Navigation Company *John Coltrane: Ole [Ole] Impulse! *Morton Feldman: Rothko Chapel [Rothko Chapel/Why Patterns] Odyssey *Arvo Part: Litany [Litany] ECM *Boffin: Fozzy [IDM Double Helix Remix Project] *Phoenecia: Biorepo [Brownout] Schematic *Pimmon: When Heddon Falls [Bip-Hop Generation V.3] Bip-Hop *Marcelo Radulovich: Signifies [(case of the missing) Thumb] Accretions *Raccoons: Ursus Lotor [Raccoons] Crouton Records *Mus: A Cielu Abiertu [Aida/Bliss Out V.17] Darla *Pullman: Same Grain with New Wood [Viewfinder] Thrill Jockey *Loren MazzaCane Connors: untitled (Airs)(excerpt) [Airs] Road Cone *Quiet American Project: Nimbus [Vox Americana] www.quietamerican.org Thanks for listening.
