I've got two copies of this one. If anyone is interested, please get in touch with me off list. Thanks.. Pietro. [Press-Info..] [Microscopic Sound] Various Artists cd (mint) Microscopic Sound is a collection of experimental electronics, pure-tone synthesis and computer-generated sound. Featuring Thomas Brinkmann, Mike Ink, Ryoji Ikeda and new tracks from Kim Cascone and Germany's Rastermusic/Noton collective, this compilation delves into the more scientific, intellectual elements of electronic music. Much of this music is the result of "techno maturing". It's still very synthetic and rhymically robotic, like German techno, but it's definitely NOT for the dancefloor. Instead, this music explores the inner-workings of sound and synthesis and often involves the use of ultra-modern synthesis techniques - in this case, the latest computer software and sound generators. This is experimental post-techno, an up-and-coming genre of sound, and it is intended for the listener who can appreciate its bold sense of exploration, as well as the surreal beauty of the world it evokes. Computations and calculations, alternating current and electrical discharge, sine waves and static - these become the tools by which this new music is forged. Made up of polyrhythms and random, transient frequencies, this music is not the latest in electronic music...it's the next.
