Okay, I bought the Jega full length and while I'm not going to fully disrespect it it hasn't really found it's way into heavy rotation in my life. However, I just picked up a (new?) Skam compilation (01-61) with some very proper track(s) from Jega. Basically the Jega album should have begun with track 10, Mai. I'm not going to piss anyone off with a full review but lets just say that 10-15 are good ranging from LOUD (11) to soft Mai(10). There are some other highlights like Nia(5). Just a small question-is that a picture of Jega as a child on the back of the album? -d who enjoys getting a "what the fuck?" feeling when listening to asymetrical music >From idm-owner-idmr4real=xxxxxxx.xxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx Mon Oct 5 09:52:55 1998 >Received: (qmail 4571 invoked by uid 6000); 5 Oct 1998 16:52:39 -0000 >Received: (qmail 4538 invoked from network); 5 Oct 1998 16:52:32 -0000 >Received: from e4e.oac.uci.edu (xxxx@xxx.xxx.xxx.xx) > by taz.hyperreal.org with SMTP; 5 Oct 1998 16:52:32 -0000 >Received: from localhost (xxxx@xxxxxxxxx) by e4e.oac.uci.edu (8.8.8/8.8.3) with SMTP id JAA08792; Mon, 5 Oct 1998 09:51:20 -0700 (PDT) >X-Authentication-Warning: e4e.oac.uci.edu: tofu owned process doing -bs >Date: Mon, 5 Oct 1998 09:51:20 -0700 (PDT) >From: zimbo <xxxx@xxx.xxx> >X-Sender: xxxx@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx >Reply-To: zimbo <xxxx@xxx.xxx> >To: wells <xxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx.xxx> >cc: WARD Giles <xxxxx.xxxx@xxxx.xx.xx>, xxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx >Subject: RE: (idm) jega >In-Reply-To: <x.x.x.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx@xxxxx.xxx.xxx> >Message-ID: <xxxx.xxx.x.xx.xxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxx-xxxxxx@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx> >MIME-Version: 1.0 >Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII >Sender: xxx-xxxxx@xxxxxxxxx.xxx >Precedence: bulk > >On Mon, 5 Oct 1998, wells wrote: > >> >Jega could be loosely described as drill n bass. >> >> I think "boring" might fit as well. > >i actually enjoy wells' blunt posts to the list. > >BUT.. i have to throw in my bit here.. > >the skam releases of jega (or what i have heard of them, i have the second >one and whats on the skampler) i found to be *very* good. > >i was very much looking forward to the full length release, but really, >upon listening to it in the store, decided not to buy it. > >"drill n bass" would fit the album well, and im just not too into that >whole sound. it just seems that m-ziq, some aphex, and vibert have >already burned me out. > >wee. > >so, dont discount jega all together if you have only heard the full >length and didnt like it -- and i guess the opposite applies, if you didnt >like the 12"s, dont overlook the full length :) > >chris. > > ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
