No, not like Chain Reaction. Deep, yes, but not in a gritty way, and what 
I have heard of his solo stuff tended towards a mix of strange "found"
samples and analogue synths over idm rhythms. By idm rhythms, I guess I
mean that they're not 4 to the floor normally, and not breaks.

He co-wrote quite a bit of the Orb's UFOrb. The solo stuff I've heard by
him I found quite odd by comparison, but he did also produce an Erasure
album...

If anyone likes British synth pop stuff, Fehlmann's remixes of Erasure's
'Stay With Me' represent some cross over into IDM land, with some quite
spacey effects, etc. I love it, but my girlfriend described it as a
psychadelic Rick Astley, due to the vocals, so who knows. :)
