*** FRIDAY NOVEMBER 7 @ SOB'S 204 VARICK ST @ HOUSTON **********

Giant Step presents Direct from the U.K., for their U.S. DEBUT,

                *** OLIVE - LIVE ***

Their melting pot of sounds has lead this U.K. outfit to the
top of the British singles charts with their smash single
"YOU'RE NOT ALONE", and has given them the title of electronica's
pop sensation. Mixing personal topics written by Tim Kellett,
Olives keyboardist / hornsman, with the sultry uplifting vocal
qualities of lead Ruth-Ann Boyle, and the programming and keyboard
skills of Robin Taylor Firth, they presented the August release of
"EXTRA VIRGIN"(RCA/BMG).
Together they take you through soundscapes venturing into trip pop
R&B and down tempo tech-edged dub, laced by drum 'n' bass and samba
rhythms. Definitely a tasty treat for your ears.

OLIVE will be performing with a full live band ! (9PM)
plus special guest DJ - OSCAR G. of FUNKY GREEN DOGS (8PM)

**Miles A Head - Bentley Rhythm Ace w/ The HardKnox**

Giant Step and LEVI'S come together for #3 of 12 in the
genre bending series "Miles A Head" with the full live show
and US debut of Bentley Rhythm Ace.

Take a box of high energy bass heavy beats, throw in a hand
full of oddball samples, slap on some slick grooves, ice it all
with an intelligently silly "Beastie Boy" attitude, turn up the
heat and put it all live on stage you have the recipe for a show
with England's born and bread big beat boys - Bentley Rhythm Ace.
B.R.A. consists of Mike Stokes and Richard March (formerly the
bassist of Pop Will Eat Itself), two breakbeat freaks who came
together to bring a new boogie to the dance floor. After
searching crate after crate of records for yard sale oddities,
the duo brought about enough sampling material for the '96 E.P.
"Bentley's Gonna Sort You Out", building up to the October '97,
Astralwerks LP, "Bentley Rhythm Ace".
Accompanied by a full ensemble, no energy is lost as they
transfer from vinyl to live show. A brilliant light show centers
the elaborate and facetious masquerade of costumes and wacky
props.Sometimes arriving to perform as Vikings, sometimes in
grass skirts and other times as wild youths in Shell uniforms
playing out theback of a disco clad polystyrene car. But don't
let their light hearted personalities distract you from the quality
of their music, as they take you from Big Beat to drum 'n' bass
to orchestrated
future jazz pieces.
Also a trip through chemical dipped hip hop into chainsaw big
beat served by guest dj's "The HardKnox" off Brighton's SKINT label .

**Friday, November 21st
**El Flamingo, 547 W 21st (btwn 10th & 11th Ave).
