Re: (idm) Aphex Twin- "Window Licker"

I agree that aphex's music is less serious than it used to be, but
this is not necessarily a bad thing. Obviously RDJ has learned to take
himself less seriously over the years. Or maybe, like you said, he
never did take himself seriously but did not make this plain in his
music until now. Obviously RDJ is making a statement. He is saying
that music is just something to give you pleasure, and that it doesn't
have to make sense or be meaningful to do that.
Everyone bitching about RDJ should loosen up, then give a listen to
Ween's "God Ween Satan - the Oneness". It's funny as hell and gives
off the exact same vibes that I see RDJ giving off nowadays. It has
that exact same philosophy.
About the music quality going down... I liked RDJ album, Come to
Daddy had some gems on there... though the first song sucks, and I
don't know about the Window Licker EP, though I dig the song itself.
So I agree that the quality has gone down somewhat, compared to older
stuff... But if the music quality has gone down, it is _not_ because
of the humor. A song can be meaningless/silly and still quite good.
