She was in the band Groove Theory (with Bryce Luvah, who last rapped for Mantronix when he went R & B for the last couple of albums), not to be confused with the equally awesome (and current) Groove *Collective* (who have some fine house mixes out of their fine organic house originals). enough spewin' from me for now, but, before i go, here is a list of some things i'm currently diggin': Mr. Hazeltine (John Tejada) with Divine Styler--"The Pressure" (b/w Mr. Hazeltine with Mr. Moto) 10" and the Move D 10" (b/w Sutekh) on Plug Research; Migs' remix of Silicone Soul's "The Answer" on Soma; Quant's remix of Zeke Schoon's "San Tropez Tonight" on Dot; the EP from Hi-Lo on Pomelo (these are the boys who also record as Ratio--they've had stuff out on MPlant and Seventh City in the past--and lots of other names; I was lucky to get sent a test, but it came with no info so i can't provide a title), Toka Project's EP on Viva!, some of the new stuff on Serial Records out of Paris, the Gene Farris 2 X LP on Soma, the latest remixes on Compost of material from Beanfield and Les Gammas, Da Lata on Palm Pictures (awesome organic beats), Daniel Lui's Act of Amnesia on his Chair Recordings, James Duncan on Le Systeme (a new canadian label), some of the new stuff on Delsin and Ladomat 2000, the Dan Balis on Brique Rouge, Jeff Sharel remixed by Mateo & Matos on Statra, Pub remixed on Vertical Form, and that's a quick rundown of vinyl stuff in the house/tech house vein. Two CD comps i'm really enjoying are "Ionized" (hard to read the info on the CD and I can't remember the contact info; believe the label is from Australia or New Zealand, maybe someone on the IDM list knows) and the "Algorhythm 2" one on Reliable (via Kog Transmissions out of New Zealand), plus the full length (but only on CD, unfortunately) from Tomas Jirku on Alien8; some CDR stuff (might be out commercially by now, not sure) I'm enjoying in the house/tech house style: Morgan Page's stuff (he's got 2 EPs coming out on Fiji later this year), the Sound Track (Savvas Ysatis) 12" on Caipirinha (includes a remix from the almost-ubiquitous-yet-with-a-high-quality-of-output :) Kit Clayton, and the new Jacek Sienkiewicz (from Poland) out his Recognition. Upcoming, I'm looking forward to the two new ones forthcoming on Mike Grant's Moods & Grooves and release number two and three on Down Low Music (who released the awesome $tinkworx 7" in March of this year that was underappreciated; I urge ya'll to hunt this down at any and all costs, it's a real stunner). As soon as work starts to calm down (recently started as program director here at CKDU, the campus/community station here in Halifax where i've been a volunteer since 1987), I'm hoping to get back into doing some world premieres on Cognition (http://techno.ca/cognition) again.
