I imagine that anything that would change the refraction index of the
plastic (i.e. wax, sanding the plastic down) would cause more problems.

According to industry specs, a CD with a paper-punch sized hole in it
should still play perfectly.  Unfortunately, most CD players are not robust
enough to extrapolate over this amount of missing data, but there are some
good ones out there.

A solution, then, is to buy a high quality CD player with excellent error
correction.  Unfortunately, this is expensive.


Many home CD repair methods sound like voodoo to me.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, tho!
