well another interesting champaign/urbana nite... salaryman came out and played a low key performance at the Courtyard Cafe at the University of IL. 4 bucks. free if you just came to see salaryman (i.e. arrived when they started..no one at the door). about 50 people total showed.... now for the good parts.... basically they played their EP ...then added 4 new tracks.... the four new tracks are similar to the EP... at the end i was starting to get bored due to the same sounds (different patterns) being piped into my skull... for the gear freaks: guitar player had his guitar hooked up to a rackmount unit which distroted the hell out of the instrument...at times he played a keyboard which simulated his distroted guitar....but let him loop it; bass player...well she had no bass with her....just a Juno-6 (yes 6) along with a drum machine and a television...she woudl pipe in the tv during an "intermission" of sound and televison..it was playing the QVC shopping netowrk..interesting noise ..... she also ran a volumme control that ran her equipment. lead guy... he was using a keyboard and a sampler...the keyboard triggered the samples.....nothing special... the drummer ahd a fes "real" drums and a few syntesized drums....(i.e. make whatever soudn he programmed into them)... overall the music was good.... fromw aht i heard they will be aroudn again in a couple of weeks...possibly w/ tortise... another cheap.ass event here in champaign -mikeD Rural.AmeriKa 217.353.5111
