Reply from Jason Potratz to Robert Merlak : Here are some interesting reviews : > How's everything ? Any new CDs/records in your hands ? things are pretty cool.....I just bought some new music this weekend. `Aphex Twin.Come To daddy; This release is just wicked......that's all there is to it. `Photek.Risc vs. Reward; I never buy jungle/dn'b.....I still don't want to really but I like this Photek stuff quite abit...I'm sure I'll buy more of his music in the future.....It doesn't realy have a jungle feel to it.....I mean it's roots are surely jungle based but it seems more interesting.....more similar to ifach than Goldie/etc.. Good stuff imo. `Polson & Ruskin.Institue For The Future; This is the 4th release from the english based techno label Surface,I have the first one by Oliver Ho...which btw was one of my favourite purchases of this year. Anyway this record is Axian(Jeff Mills)/"serious" detroit techno....very good techno...that's all I can say. `Dennis Siemon.Airbaging; Axodya's 11th release showcasing the talents of Dennis Siemon & Mark L. Zimmerman....tight/well made techno that could a. really burn up a dance floor and b. be comfortable on the turntable of alomost any serious armchair techno enthusiast, who would't be caught dead on a dancefloor. Inventive/quality techno from axodya but what else would you expect? 'David Kristian.Ectopic Beat; Intersting jungle....not too standard sounding......except the use of snare drums & without those you'd have somthing closer to afx or autechre or invitingly more original<--this last example hits it closer to home seeing as how D. Kristian's synth work seems to be inspired by star trek/60's sci-fi synth chords/the 1992 u.k. breakbeat track Dubbing You by Foul Play/early u.k. breabeat stuff...make sense. Cool stuff. `d.i.a.l..the pause that refreshes; Very interesting & and very good. `0+noto; Four tracks presented in a really really nice package(two clear ten inch records bundled together buy a transparent plastic outer sleeve which presents minimal track/record info in black "tight" print...all of this print is enclosed in a ,black print again, square outline. Besides the wicked packaging the music is very cool....very minmal sahkoesque stuff but no signs of techno derivative rhythm involved here....even without the rhythm this stuff is very intense due to all the strange little build ups and such....sounds could have been generated by static, analogue synths, etc. but who knows....music to listen to on acid? If you like sahko or 0's other work,or even the Aurobindo release that was produced by Locust and Darren Seymour(Seefeel fame) this one will make you happy. Btw, I recently bought A3000 "Magnetic Gliding" CD. This one > is released on Italian label Disturbance. This is full length album > of Marco Repeto & Stefan Reisen. They released a CD album > on RePHLeX as well, aka Synectics. Brilliant release. Sounds very cool...I really like alot of the stuff that synectics have put out plus I'm quite a fan of axodya...I've got 9 axodya releases on vinyl....I saw a axodya special release that was put out by superstition(german trance/techno label...I'm sure you know about this label) at the store when i bought those records, that I just reviewed. I liked it but by that time I had already chosen what I was going to buy and what I wasn't going to buy. jason
