I just heard it on the radio, and it really blew away most of > the techstep I've heard (well, it had much more going on than Torque > anyway). the alec empire/panacea _chrome 13_ 12" is comparable to panacea's album _low profile darkness_, IMO. it's an interesting track because it's almost "standard" early panacea stuff until the "destroyer"-ish breaks kick in halfway through. while i do enjoy the newer panacea stuff, i think it lacks the sheer hellish sound of his album and it's tending towards a kind of fat two-step beat, a la problem child. all of his material is worth picking up, though. and i LIKE _torque_, but next to panacea (or almost anything german) it's pretty weak. and right now i'm listening to alec empire's _squeeze the trigger_ - best album since _the destroyer_, hands down, but i also find it to be more enjoyable on a regular basis (it doesn't leave you cowering in a pool of sweat...). gaa!
