I'm taking a course from him now on "Sound and Phonography." It's quite bizarre, but really interesting. It deals with all sorts of sound philisophical issues stemming from the recorded nature of modern sound... We get to listen to the KLF and Scanner for credit, and he promises to get Thurston Moore to talk to us. Szwed is an odd man... he knows more random facts than anybody, but he can't always make anything logical out of them. That was the problem with huis Sun Ra book. All sorts of random anecdotes from ouyt of nowhere. The descriptions of the music itself were a bit lacking. But still a worthwhile read. Sam
