Many thanks to all for the responses and suggestions I received following my "heartbeat" request. Quite possibly I'll go with Mike Ink's "yellow" from the Studio 1 series (although it's a bit fast) or something from Monolake: those organic aquatic beats are quite suggestive of arterial blood surges atop of a steady rhythm.
