Re: (idm) New Years Eve gig in London - New Order and Underworld

hmmmmm, I went to the Ally Pally New Year's Eve bash 2 years ago and don't
think I"d bother again ... tis a right bummer, cos I live right next to
Ally Pally meanin its just a little stroll down the hill, thru the park
home, no need for the extortionate taxi bizness ... but that year, when
they had Orbital playing Chimes in the countdown to the New Year, I thought
everyone was gonna go mental when the clock struck midnight, but did they
eckers like! everyone just kept on dancin, none of the big hugs & snoggin
bizness whatsoblinkinever!!!??? :(

Maybe its cos I'm from a Scottish family and up in Scotland at Hogmany
everyone just loses the plot completely, everyone's huggin and kissing and
going totaaally MENTAL, partyin it up bigtime, the whole country's just one
big ceiligh for a week! Maybe da Londoners are more uptight than us
Northerners or somethin? I dunno, but also it was total chaos in there,
the Chemical Bros & Psyconauts room was sooo rammed, the bouncers at the
door wouldn't let any more people in, meaning some friends got all
separated & lots of aggro at the organisers & bouncers, 2 hours queues for
the loos and the cloakroom ... maybe The Mean Fiddler will sort tings out
this year, who knows? but if its not happenin there, then run down the
hill to Aless's house, (the house with the big Holly trees in the front
garden all covered in red Holly berries already!) where it'll DEFINITELY
be parrrrrty time, in da propper Scottish styleee, loooads of boooze, Black
Bun, clootie dumplings, wild Scottish dancin, blindin soundz & probbly lots
of verrrry naughty completely sozzzzled Finnish girls ... and lads, you've
gotta have a bottle and a piece of coal before you're allowed over the
doorstep at Hogmany, tis an ol Scottish tradition!

'For auld lang syne, my dear,
   For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
   For auld lang syne!

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
   Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
   Sin auld lang syne!

And there's a hand, my trusty fiere,
   And gie's a hand o'thine,
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught,
   For auld lang syne.'
                         Rabbie Burns.
