Yes, I'm sure you enjoy being all negative and angsty. I'm sure it is
one of your greatest talents. It would certainly seem to suit your
personality perfectly so far...

>>Look, fool:

I don't know where the fuck this Princeton place is, nor do I
particularly care, but you are beginning to live up to the stereotype
pretty well. Condescension, spoiltness and arrogance all sound like
exactly the kind of traits you thought you were above. Guess you can't
be right all the time, eh? Even if you think you are...

>>I explicitly spelled out in my original message (which means
>>either that you didn't read it and are thus a jackass,

Oh, apologies if I don't fawn over your every single word! If you want
people to reply to what you meant, make sure you include the whole post.
If you purposely WANT people to misunderstand then continue to do what
you have done...

>>or you missed it,
>>in which case you have the reading comprehension of an ant)

Right, so because I missed one of your posts, or missed the point of one
of your incoherent, unclear, train-of-thought style ramblings (the above
lack of clarity is a case in point), I cannot read. My ability to read
depends on your ability to write. I think this is something you should
remember before you reach for the flamethrower...

>IDM READERS ARE NOT YOUR AVERAGE APHEX FANS.

Some must be, unless there's list where you can discuss Autechre and
Aphex isolated from any other music. Please, do point out where these
places are and I'm sure I will come across the mentality of person you
describe, or many of them all locked away in their tiny little musical
bubble. Otherwise I will assume they are here on IDM, in which case,
come out come out wherever you are!

>If so many Aphex/Autechre fans
>listen to No-U-Turn, why does Aphex sell 50-100 thousand copies,

RDJs last LP didn't sell too well, if I remember rightly...

>and No-U-Turn can't sell out editions of 2000?

The Warp/EMI connection for one. Aphex gets better distribution and
publicity than No-U-Turn. Greater exposure often (although not always)
means greater sales. Also, there are spots where lots of different
musics cross over. It's called common ground and it's what your pop CDs
were made for. Lots of people on this list have a common ground of
Aphex/Autechre/Squarepusher. Some of them go off and buy No-U-Turn on
the side, whereas some of them prefer other stuff on a similiar small
scale. *That's* the reason for the sale difference, IMO...

>Your average Aphex fan just
>doesn't have the time/

Just like some people might not have 'time' to read every single word
you post?

>inclination to look beyond the "big names" (I know
>plenty of these people)

Okay, so YOU do. *I* don't. Lucky me.

>of Autechre, and (as I said) maybe
>plug/mu-ziq/black dog. Get it?

I got it the first time, I just don't believe it. I'm sure (oh so sure)
that you know people who fit into this category, but as I said before, I
think these people are a small minority not the vast majority, as you
seem to suggest.
