I agree.  The original is a fabulous pop song, though.  Saint Etienne
qualifies as intelligent dance music, though not IDM.  For evidence, check
out _So Tough_, a record I've described as post-modern pre-Beatles pop.
"Like A Motoway" is taken from _Tiger Bay_ (an album disfigured by the US
record company, which wrecked its flow by deleting a 3-track suite and
replacing it with an unrelated single and 2 US-only mixes of album track
-- get the UK/Europe version).
