I listenned to the new LP of Mandroid "Electro Freak REhab Clinic" (Breakin') and it was very entertaining. The 3rd track on side A is just like an old Egyptian Lover track I just heard (just found On The Nile for 50 cents! ). It had that low-voice braggadoccio (sp?) sort of jive over a electro beat, but the Mandroid one sounds European moreso. The "Battle" track is really energetic and focused, and while this record is just screamingly RETRO electro, it is still very entertaining and pop-like about it (at least to me, but I'm not jaded about that old stuff) "Jammin' on my Old Piano" is a good tune also. So who are _these_ people? With the 303 melodic (verse-chorus) programming on here, I wonder if there isn't some Rebirth-type software used for this record, as the programming would be a pain in the ass (using song mode on the 303, blah!). The cover is a crack-up; looking at all the different spasmodic aliens and closet electro-addict-dj bustin their moves uncontrollably as the Rehab Clinic thugs herd them into the institution. I've always liked that deceptively-crappy drawing style... David xxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.xxx <------+
