Any reports on the IDM acts? ok 1st off, not to put a damper on things but Jega, Bola, Mira Calix and Andy M. didn't get to come. They said they were having a problem w/ their visas and they could afford to bring everybody.........but Rob Hall was there. Ae, PBO and Luke Vibert were all there. Mike Paradinas was hanging around backstage the whole time. at 1st i was really pissed that Dylan wouldn't be there, but then i though "i paid $50 to get into this shit so i am damn well going to watch every fuking thing i can even if it sucks balls". and WOW! i must say, i am glad i stayed. Autechre's set (and this was NO dj set. it was live as shit! laptops and all) was really amazing...no i mean really amazing. i'm not even that big a fan (though i may have just become one) but it went off. i didn't really think it was going to be that good after hearing stories about their total improve set in Canada a while back. there was some good improve stuff and they actually played some of their released tracks (some Cichli Suite, Incunabula, etc.). there was a pretty formed groove through most of the set. anybody who is a big Ae fan and didn't got to this because they thought i would be some lame dj set, missed out hard. though they probably ended up doing the live bit to make up for 4 of the Skamstresses not showing, it worked. i didn't see the show as a waste at all and most importantly, i wasn't pissed when i left. Rob Hall spun a nice set w/ everyone's favorite MASK 2 track and some other great stuff. nice guy, that one. PBO spun something of a downtempo set. he played some of his unreleased stuff along w/ one track i know i've heard before. i almost want to say Paul Hasselinger but i really don't think that's it. oh well that was cool. Luke Vibert is just the man. i gotta say. the stuff he was playing (live), well let's just say you're going to want it when it comes out. it was Luke doing his stuff w/ this older guy named B.J. Cole on live bench slide guitar. i've always liked slide guitar (now all they need is a baritone sax player). sweet ass set by them; all new stuff for an album they have coming out i don't know when. the Vibert and Cole album should be out "soon" is what they said. and how bout everyone else on this list. i know some were there. i even met a few of you. i was the geeky little bastard w/ the black 80's hat trying to get Ae and Rob Hall to sign my Gescoms. well, thats the news from Indio// »-®øÐ-» ________________________________________________________________ Get free e-mail you don't need Web access to use -- Or get full, reliable Internet access from Juno Web!
