Yep. About the only math rock thing I can think of are King Crimson 
from 1973 onwards. "Fracture" being a case in point. But generally KC 
were/are more interesting than a lot of the wanky bands they got 
lumped in with. Even heard someone describe Robert Fripp as punk.
