> I'm looking for an album of warm, happy ambient music....anyone > recommend anything?? Some people might disagree but I would classify my newest purchase, To Rococo Rot's "Amateur View" as warm and somewhat happy chill out music. Like Boards of Canada minus the samples of people talking and with "nicer" beats. I also love the fact that the track lenghts on the back cover suggest more of a pop album than IDM, i.e. neither extremely long or short tracks (from 2:58 to 5 mins, if the memory serves me right.) On a completely unrelated note: A week ago I was in Paris for a short holiday and ran into a Gay Pride (tm) leaflet that advertised a gay sauna called "IDM". I have no idea what the letters stand for (maybe some Parisian could enlighten us) but found it funny anyway. Sadly, I had no time to check the sauna out and hear what music they played. Now that I mentioned it, I have had this long-time dream of getting a job as a DJ in a sauna (or a brothel, but would really prefer a sauna). I find the idea of getting to pick the music people have sex to very appealing. And more importantly, as I can't mix to save my life I would need my audience to be concentrating on something else than my technique.
