That=E2=80=99s simply not correct, unless there has been a major code = change since I left the industry. Take a look at Home Depot=E2=80=99s romex wire section next time you go. = They have (using 12 AWG as an example) 12-2, 12-3, 12-4, etc, and the = most common usage is is to connect multiple branch circuits with a = common neutral between them. All the neutrals are being tied back to the = neutral bar in the breaker, so technically EVERYTHING is connected to a = neutral ties together somewhere in the electrical panel. You may be correct that you won=E2=80=99t see this done with smaller = wire, like 14 AWG, 16 AWG, etc., as the potential load on the neutral = could be greater than the NEC specifies for such small wire. If you=E2=80=99= re using 12 AWG (rated up to 30 A as of the 2005 NEC) or thicker, you = won=E2=80=99t run into that issue. > On Jun 11, 2018, at 10:07 AM, David Moylan = <xxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxx> wrote: >=20 > Not sure where you are, but in the US you can't (legally) share a = neutral between two hots.
