'lobster tracks' is completely mental- continues where 'latest effort' left off, but more melodious. Tracks; Scram: v. minimal (more so than cylobian sunset tracks) and super funky melodies are very nicely skewed, putting the D in IDM bigstyle Mod you later: more distorted than scram & only 1 min long- nice & concise Wanking off on other people's misery: darker and squelchier. drum sounds from the chegere track on 'latest effort' Mano a Mano: (ha ha ha) see 'call now below' Smash up the pram: really mental. v. harsh sounds for melody- sound like very short samples looped. Stomping FM: very abstract beginning- goes into a sort of stuttery drexcian world. in fact i reckon aquatic imagery goes well with the whole release. the cd cover has a lobster djing (drawn by a certain chris cunningham), and i reckon you could make quite a good video for the first track - like the chembros 'hey boy, hey girl'- but with rendered sea creatures raving it up Grillerwarfare: pounding stomping in the oldstyle AFX tradition but with more delicate analogue squeals Call now: (hehe he) I'm not one for having adverts (or parodies of them) on cds but this is quite funny- take off of one of the lame phone-chat adverts we get between late night programs in the UK caaaaall nooow overall: if you like 'latest effort' (as i do) you should really enjoy this if youve only heard 'cylobian sunset' (heavily recommended btw) with its simplicity and warmth then you should probably try before buying if youre not a raver at heart. Talking of raving ('taste the flavor of the ultimate raver') the open transport album by 'MDK' is *really* good- nice mixture of tracks- funky/noisy, some reminicent (and sampling- BDPSMP?) of bytes black dog. they have some stuff at mp3.com- the track 'vi' melts my heart. also, the new Uziq is really good too (im even warming to the drill & bass numbers) and I'm getting into squarepushers new material a lot too (took a lot of walkman listening tho), worth being patient (like ae) -- Jameel Syed http://ruby.doc.ic.ac.uk/ __________________________________________________________________________ University: xxxx@xxx.xx.xx.xx Personal: xxxxxx_xxxx@xxxxxxx.xxx Mobile: 0780 335 6317 0C7F E831 BD47 176B 80B6 A70C 6265 FE45 1B46 894C
