No offense intended here, but one hits the point of diminishing returns fairly quickly when building their own custom stands. Companies like Jaspers specialize in making stands and do nothing else. One basically has to repeat everything they did, on a small scale, just to get what is already available. The benefit to pro stands is that they are modular and moveable and warrantied. I can understand doing something custom in the situation where a room is permanent and the gear is not moving.
