VVM may bundle Stock, Hausen and Walkman's Matt Wand [fresh from remixing Pulp] in the boot of their battle bus to spin some disks in conjuction with their set Peter Blegvad Trio One Third of avant-nonsense trio SLAB HAPPY, Peter will be "spewing forth sparkling jewels of beautiful thought" [c THE WIRE], accompanied by Chris Cutler [Drums] & John Greaves [Bass] Saturday 30th May Neil Sparkes & Saul Williams Sparkes, jazz-blues poet and vocalist with world-fusion band Transglobal Underground joins Saul Williams, the New York Nuyorcian Poet Cafe's 1996 Grand Slam champion, for a night of electryfying performance poetry. Sparkes features in the poetry anthology Grandchildren of Albion. Williams has contributed to numerous CD's, recently released a 12" on Big Dada, shared a stage with Last Poets, The Fugees and the Jungle Brothers, and co-wrote and played the lead in Slam!, which won the Grand Prize for drama at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday 31st May Evan Parker Saxaphonist Evan Parker has created a unique reportoire of multiphonic effects and split notes in a career which began with late 1960's improvisations. Although his music is now almost wholly abstract, the influence of John Coltrane's late period improvisations is clear.
