In the past month I have had 3 pieces of equipment with bad 1N400x diodes functioning as rectifiers in a power supply. In each case, the decoupling capacitors along side in said power supply were beyond their limits. These were all late 1970s and early 1980s pieces of gear. Was there something wrong with late 70s early 80s 1N4000 series diodes? Starting to think I should just change these out whenever I recap a power supply from that era.
