Well, you are technically correct. However, the overwhelming majority of = electrical installations don=E2=80=99t have the little tab between the = top and bottom outlets broken, such that you could connect independent = hot and/or neutral wires to each outlet. As a former electrician, I = don=E2=80=99t think I did that once in any commercial or industrial = setting.
