The Miles A Head series is all about bringing quality music to broader
audiences. This time we're pleased to also be broadening the scope of
the series with a very special one-off, for New York only, night of
unusual and unique musical cross-pollenation. Steve Reich is one of the
greatest modern American composers. Along with Phillip Glass and Terry
Riley his work has been labelled Minimalist Music, this term means little
to the non-professional, so it's perhaps more appropiate to say that
Reich's work is all about repetition and trance-like building and phasing
of musical phrases. It's hypnotic and beautiful, as well as highly
dramatic. It's also led to Reich receiving two Grammy Awards. Besides
that Reich has been a huge influence on modern composers working in the
areamost commonly labeled "Electronica" - hence the new album ' Reich
Remixed ' that features a number of impressive remixes of Reich from
powerful and respected artists like Coldcut, Howie B and DJ Spooky.

For this evening we're pleased to announce the bringing together of
Steve Reich, who'll perform his early composition "Four Organs" with
Bang on A Can, and a number of live and DJ sets from some of the top
artists who have remixed Reich for the album. Coldcut in particular
deserve a large amount of attention for their pivotal work in developing
new software that has led to their astounding unique live set. Expect a
large amount of improvisation both with sound and visuals from this
stunning UK ground-breaking duo. Also just added to the bill is one of
Japan's premier electronic artists Nobukazu Takemura ( recently signed to
Chicago's Thrill Jockey imprint ) who'll be performing his debut NYC live
set. Whilst DJs Andrea Parker and New York's own Mantronik and Spooky
will provide an ample amount of beats and experimentation to keep feet
moving and heads thinking.

This is a rare event. A coming together of disparate generations of
artists. A dialogue between different forms of music. Be sure to get your
tickets early for this extravagent evening.
One night only. Not to be repeated.
