routes to idm heaven part 94:

chart pop, mainly synth stuff like Human League, New Order
funk and soul - particularly funk. like Cameo, Zapp.
(also discovered electro)
leading to hip hop (Mantronix, Run DMC, Beasties)
and then house (the first chicago jack tracks grabbed my ear)
the whole house and techno thing from 87 onwards
which spawned acid, rave, bleeps etc.
leading to an addiction to WARP records (I have all the 12"s, most bought
 at the time of release)
so I started buying the Ai series.
And discovered the wonders of Autechre, Black Dog, B12, AFX et al
(also picked up on a heavy ambient period too)
Along the way I carried on listening to rave, techno and house
now I listen to techno, electro and drum'n'bass as well as IDM
