hello everyone,
heres some info on our 2 january releases, as well as our upcoming
schedule. it appears 2004 will be a busy year for us. we are planning to do
one cd and one 12" per month for the whole year...and maybe more than one
vinyl per month at times. So for january we have a lovely new 12" in the
vein of machinedrum by a new group from helsinki called aphilas, as well as
a new album from the well known and regarded proem. Info below:

Artist: Proem
Title: Socially Inept
Mr. Richard Bailey, aka Proem, has been quiet for awhile,... but he's been
busy. Very busy making Socially Inept, the most densely emotive Proem record
to date. His second album on Merck, and fourth overall. Described by Richard
as being sweeter than a vegan triple chocolate peanut butter mousse with an
extra thick crust. You'll find many of his 'patented sweet' Proem melodies
and arrangement. He has traded in most of his Burnplate crunch for some of
the smoothest and most precise beats around. As well as his more varied
structure and progression definitely display a maturity not seen previously.

Artist: Aphilas
Title: Instrumentally Ill
Debut 12" from two Helsinki based producers that go by the name of Aphilas.
Jazzy sample based hip hop beats with heavy emphasis on melody, somewhere
between Deceptikon and Machinedrum. The bobbing of heads shouldn't be
strange to listeners of this slab of wax, composed of six tracks with some
familiar samples here and there. Expect more high quality stuff from these
skilled Finnish producers in the future, with a full CD album coming
sometime in 2004. Featuring some of these tracks plus brand new material,
definitely a new Merck find to keep an eye on for the coming year. With a
limited portion on grey marbelized vinyl. MERCK II

Here is our schedule for the first quarter of 2004, we should have the mr.
projectile cd available around February 10th for mailorder. As well as the
final chapter in the half the battle remixes vinyl out by the 15th of the
month. We also have in the works, but without a set date yet...the ilkae
bring extra dragons 12", which is the newest and sadly last crop from the
genius duo ilkae. As well as Malcom Kipe's debut 12" on merck, some of you
know him better as Nautilis, but he's flipped up the style and name for this
special collection of tracks.

February 2004: Mr. Projectile - Sinking (Merck 024) CD
February 2004: Machinedrum - Half the Battle 3 (Merck BA3) 12"
