(idm) best from beyond

here are my favorite beyond releases:

another fine day, life before land (i second jsd here!)
higher intelligence agency, freefloater (perennial!)
higher intelligence agency, reform (extremely nice apl and ae remixes)
david toop & max eastley, buried dreams
hia & biosphere, polar sequences

the beyond comps are usually pretty good as well, but tend to be
kinda spotty.

another jsd-related seconding (sorta) is as regards fathom records.
fathom came up after assertions were made about hearts of space (fathom's
parent-label) being similar to fax. this is extremely misleading; a
sprinkling of heart of space releases have wandered into droney ambient
territory, but few of their releases sound much like what fax is doing
(even where the world-electronic fusion tactics overlap!). the fathom
stuff is closer, and some of it does in fact exceed much of what fax
releases. jsd mentioned robert rich and brian williams' _stalker_, imo one
of the best ambient releases ever recorded). i'd also recommend anything
on fathom by robert rich solo (stay away from his hos releases except
maybe for _numena_), as well as robert's collaboration with alio die,
_fissures_, which is just gorgeous. steve roach's _magnificent void_ is
also, er, magnificent...

but you shouldn't drop a penny on any of that stuff until you've bought
the new lithops lp!!! :)
