Hi ya'll... This might be comparable to some asinine 12 yr old getting on AnalogueHeaven and whining for people to give him cheap gear, but I was curious if somebody could explain to me what IDM actually is these days. I've been around a bit and I know some of the classics in the category (AFX/autechre ect).. but who else false into this genere (now)? Square Pusher (I hope not, no offense =)? Who are the non-mtv played cutting edge artist in the world of electronic music IN YOUR minds ? I've been living in a Stockholm vinyl paradise for the last few years (Hybrid/DrumCode/ Code Red/ Blank ltd. ect) so I'm a little out of date as to who is pushing warped rhythmic/dissonant music to the extremes (aside from the recent works of Jochem Paap, Richie Hawtin, Cari Lekebusch, Neil Landstrum, Christian Vogal, Todd Sines, Adam Beyer, Autechre, Aphex Twin and Thomas Krome.. I haven't heard anything really progressive). I'm just Curious ;)... o0o[qiB.]o0o btw- this might be old hat to this list but Richie Hawtin has started up a new solo label called Minus (http://www.m-nus.com/ ). The first 2 releases are intended to be a cd compilation of the Concept vinyl series and the new full length Plastikman album. Plus8 is moving into a nebulously stated "phase 2"... but I have no fukin clue what that is supposed to mean (all info is from Tosh, who is doing the web design for those kiddies...). Does anybody know anything further about this? ... "wow.. I actually followed the 80 characters per line rule this time!" -- me, after lamenting over my first message.
