At the risk of opening the proverbial Pandora's Box ...

I finally found "The Knights Who Say Dot" a short while back.
After about 5-6 go-rounds in the CD player, I have to say:

So *this* is the "future of (electronic) music"? Eek. "Where's the Beef?"

I'm puzzled, because I liked some of the stuff I heard from the first 4 Dot
12"'s. And it's not like I don't like the stuff on TKWSD, it's just that most
of it just washes over me somewhat pleasantly. It just burbles along nicely,
but something that's been hyped as the Future Of Music As We Know It shouldn't
produce that kind of mild reaction.

Perhaps it's due to the nature of it being a compilation.

But the two things that I was *really* impressed with were the Tupilaq tracks
(although I'm not sure I'm too into the female vox), and the irony is that
I think they're the first ones to leave the label, right? Those tracks
actually sounded *different*. Is there any other Tupilaq material out there?

Whereas the 2nd Hab track, for example ("Pan") sounds like a total mu-Ziq
ripoff - patented Mike Paradinas sounds abound everywhere. And like I said,
the rest seems to just bubble along pleasantly, not really anything terribly
outstanding about it. And the last track (Doctor Kosmos/Friend) I don't
much care for at all.

*Shrug* ... I certainly think it's OK overall, but methinks the new Emperor
is missing some clothes. Disclaimer: I haven't heard maPod or any other
full-lengths from the Dot stable (are there any others yet?).

Sorry to bring up something that was beaten to death back when it came out
