the following is a recommendation for the l'usine CD from a guy on IDM, plus my follow-up dick sucking party :) it's good to see that people are getting turned on to it, especially strangers (actually, Hess is an old-skool ambient lister, and i imagine that he's been on IDM just as long. . .) -jeff (L'USINE ARMY) p.s. isophlux is a stupid word, dontchathink? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- >As if my seal-of-approval meant anything to you... > >Okay... I am not very good at writing music reviews, so I am not going to >try. But, I just have to mention this release from Isophlux records >(because I have not seen any word of it here since it came out). Anyway, >for beats, MELODY and fun, you should check it out. Nice description, >huh? Now you see why I don't write record reviews... :) > >I don't think www.isophlux.com has any audio snippets, but they should. yup, i posted a mini-review a week or two ago on this disc. it's really nice, and i'm not just saying that because he's my ex-roommate and he namechecked me on the insert :) again, the music is tonic for those who lament the melodylessness (?) of recent IDM output. it also has to be the most aurally punishing CD i've heard in a while, and i don't mean simply distorto-aggro either: l'usine is all about giving the tweeters a workout right up to the specified limits of your loudspeakers. i think i made mention of this before, but the next isophlux (protocol) will feature a l'usine remix on the flip. jeff mailed me a CDR of this track, and it's a strange one: glitchy dnb-informed weirdness underneath a gorgeous ambient soundtrack. too bad the isophlux site is so criminally underdeveloped (dead links a-go-go). . .some RA would be very nice. -jeff -------------- 1642 try 621 --------------
