got this one in the mail yesterday. i'm mostly agreeing with other
accounts, although the standout track for me has been the trapezoid remix,
which is schematic's richard devine. a nice refinement of the style of
glitchy computer-beat electro that filled his "richard coleman devine" ep,
much less abrassive and easier on the ears. another nice stand-up
bassline, as well, and as with the best of that ep a very moving sense of
development. subtle but also very intense. the bisk mix is
also interesting -- he essentially leaves the vocals in place (which i
usually dislike in remixes), but totally rebuilds the rhythm track from
the ground up. nicely done. the rest are pleasant enough, but hardly worth
the attention of a big licensed remix project thingy. seems like the
mid-level indie electronica scene is beginning to fall for its own
hype (vvm/diskono as a wire cover story; ninja licensing a very samey
comp from a "hot" indie label). maybe i'm just out of touch...

oh, and i actually found the autechre and squarepusher mixes a bit on the
boring side.
