black eye black eye black eye black eye black eye another(!) top night out in manchester, Black eye was brutal tonight. The evening began as DJ Speedranch took to the decks with his mix of full-on hardcore action. Speedy's set was the usual display of disorderly conduct - he's a rascal when he gets going. No Scorn tonight, but dashings of Techno Animal and Speedy J made amends. The wine flowed as Mild Man Jan & Co alighted upon the scene. Having already provided one of the highlights of the 0161 set, MMJ regaled us further with a rigourous, crunched up drum & bass performance. A fine effort all round, they may well prove to have a few surprises to follow - any tracks due to come out? To finish a wonderful evening off, DJ Scud was in full effect with a heavy, heavy duty set. Rarely have I heard such a mashed up full frontal attack - is it IDM? probably not, but it makes yer ears bleed. I Like. Scud was fresh from entertaining 2000 Romans last weekend -possibly a bit of a let down playing to 20 Mancunians. Maybe there'll be a better turnout next month, when V/Vm plan to baffle and bewilder with a live PA. I'll let you know if the Prodigy come anywhere close this weekend.......
