(please excuse the crosspost) the other day I picked up a split 12" on Endorphin Records (cat. 000). I am quite surprised I purchased this because I'm not that big of a jungle fan. However, this split 12" blew me away cuz it reminds me of jungle made for "non-jungle" fans (if that makes any sense at all) It grabbed me immediately the way T-powers "Self Evident truths...." and Subtropic's "Homebrew" did back in 1996. This is jungle, but it's like DIFFERENT. I don't know how to describe it much, but the focus seems to be much more on melody; lots of it. There's like an actual SONG, not two bar loops, going on underneath 100's of cut up beats. There are nice long pauses allowing the listener to focus on the soundscapish mood of the melody rather than the chaos of the beats. it's not in your face like Ed Rush sorta thing. nor is it super sweet Jon Tesh Good Looking Records-bukem jungle. It's simply it's "own" style of jungle. one side is by artist/group named accelera- kiss burn ep. this side is a little less jungley done with some progrock kinda thing (yes, guitars) makes me think of old school SEEFEEL with crunchy beats... while the other side is done by Sonic Fracture- the flow ep and boy does it flow!!!!! I counted some 30 different sounding snares alone in one track, but even with all these mad beats bouncing all around/in and out, you never lose focus of the ambience underlying the beats. So NOW, to my point. Does anyone know where I can get Endorphin 001??? there is an insert that came with the 12" that states 001 is a full-length by accelera deck titled NARCOTIC BEATS (2x12") containing a bonus 21minute track:) Anyway, I'm already addicted to 000, so 001 is perfectly titled. any help is appreciated cuz this is a GREAT release and I need more! gilly
