all these records are from r&s bernocchi, kondo, laswell "charged" album many records these days are described as "jazzy" drum'n'bass, "jazzy" triphop etc, much of which perhaps wouldn't seriously impress the real jazz listener. this album, on the other hand, is the real thing. funky drum'n'bass-rhythms accompany a skilled trumpetist, most of utterly dance-friendly with some slower tracks for variation. a good record that should appeal to both drum'n'bass and jazz lovers. various "fyzikal encountas pt 2" compilation this is a "better that good, but not great" drum'n'bass compilation. loads of big names, including tracks or remixes by: optical, capone, john b, decoder & substance, dom & roland, dj ss. if you've liked these artists in the past you'll probably like this cd. nothing groundbreaking, but nothing that makes me skip to the next track either. ken ishii "misprogrammed day" single ken ishii continues with his usual techno experimetalism. quite good, but it doesn't reach the same heights as the "EXTRA" masterpiece. dj q and dave angel each submits a standard techno house remix. the last track, afronaught's breakbeat jazz remix, is what will keep me from selling this single. boom boom satellites "on the painted desert" single three versions of "on the painted desert". first the albumversion enhanced with a female vocalist: good theory that fails on a sub-standard vocalist. the other two are remixes by dj krush and kan takagi, a half boring triphop thingy and a sort of synthpop/steel guitar-version, respectively. the best track on the single is the howie b remix of "push eject". if you've got the "out loud" album this single is superflous. if you haven't got the album, buy it instead. reviews written and translated from swedish by henrik str=F6mberg more reviews soonish hs _______________________________________________ the soul is just a waste product that disperses in the atmosphere and jams the tv broadcasts.
