Brock: Even John Tejada's "housey" (a la the "City Of Drumrolls...") material
that you mentioned is the in the tech-house realm, tech-house in the more
American version as opposed to the more German/progressive version of people
like TLB jr (i.e. the German/progressive version tends to be more pumping and
shiny, whereas the American version tends to be more smooth and full and less
clean and tight.) Whether he (JT) does a track that leans to the housey or
the technoey, it's still in that tech-house pocket that a tech-houser would be
able to appreciate. I hate to tell your pocketbook this, but John Tejada's
entire back catalog is quality: there's nothing you should avoid for fear of
too technoey or too housey. Sorry I can't tell you which ones to buy in
particular, but just grab the ones you can; don't feel you have to have them
all right away, just get what you can now and grab the rest later: they're
all quality and they're all easily appreciated by someone into tech-house.
BTW, check here: http://www.globalserve.net/~cognition next week for an
interview with John Tejada and some cuts from his forthcoming album on A13.
One of them can be heard right now in part three of In The Mix show 575 (at
the same URL). Andrew
