(idm) useless news

Well, I was going to do my Aesthetics term paper on comics, but after finding
no unifying aesthetic concepts worth writing about in comics, I switched my
topic to techno music three hours before deadline and somehow it just came.
The lesson? Expression, the conveyance of ideas and experiences, is the most
powerful and crucial aesthetic concept, especially when dealing with music
mostly constructed out of one bar 4/4 loops and synth sweeps.
Just in case anybody wants to bring up the old IDMer's argument about how
music that doesn't possess innovative structures isn't worth listening to,
just let me know and I'll give 'em a ten-page bitch-slap.

In other news: The artwork on the cover of the new Mad Monkey Records
compilation is bad-assed. Track ten sucks eggs, though.

Enough for today, gotta go read up on the evolutionary & neurophysiological
origins of musical appreciation and ability for my presentation this
afternoon. If all this wasn't so interesting, I'd be tired.
