"I've got a question for ya..." :) The 12" for Information Society's "Running" on Tommy Boy is (c) 1986 and says "purchased from Wide Angle/Twin Tone" (reading this as "licensed from..."). The 1988 Information Society debut album uses the Vocal remix from the abovementioned 12", but says (c) 1984 Tommy Boy in the liner notes and (c) 1985 Tommy Boy on the label. And, though the 12" Vocal remix on the Tommy Boy 12" is the version used on the LP (ie. they are exactly the same), the credits on the LP omit one of the writers credited on the 12" and credit the production to Paul Robb (who wasn't mentioned anywhere on the 12"). I'm assuming this is a writing/production history rewriting itself sort of thing (whether through egos and/or labelling mistakes) as has happened with Transmat reissues and some other things in the last few years. My question: does anyone out there have the original release on Wide Angle/Twin-Tone (if there even was one; perhaps it was licensed to Tommy Boy from Wide Angle/Twin-Tone and never released previously a la Stewart Walker's Stabiles licensed from Tektite to Mille Plateaux but not released on Tektite) and, if so, what versions are on there, and what are the credits including dates? Thanks much. Andrew Duke :) -- Cognition/Andrew Duke's In The Mix mailto:xxxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.xx http://techno.ca/cognition 1096 Queen St #123 Halifax NS Canada B3H 2R9
