If you are interested in a low-fi sample-built recording with a little humor and fun, you could do quite a bit worse than pick up the recently reissued BS 2000 album on Grand Royal. It's only available on their website, and it's well worth the $10 they're asking for it. I understand it's primarily the Beastie Boys working here, but once you let that preconception go, I found it to be a very entertaining listen. Loads of weird loops, wacky breaks, tempo shifts, etc. No rapping. A lot of it is fairly primitive, old-skool-sampler sounding, but they do a great job with it. 20+ tracks, 35 minutes long, and it's on bright pink-marble vinyl. I like it a lot. Maybe you will too. ----- Adam J Weitzman --- NewsEdge Corporation ----- http://www.newsedge.com -- http://www.newspage.com "Humor is the best way of dealing with complete and utter nonsense." - John Lydon
