Agreed. White spirit or petrol is what I use but I suspect
they're all similar, ie mixtures of hydrocarbons, mainly
alkanes.

Ethanol is useless in dissolving glues but some people report
success with isopropanol.

Acetone would probably work but is not the one I would reach for
first as it's more aggressive than any of the above. My main use
for it is welding ABS or PS to itself...
