The below is from a Coil list post... not by myself... No beats. No vocals. No Ambient bliss, either. Around seventy minutes of music. I will post all the details to Jon Whitney, so he can put them on the Coil website. I will post a short review to Jon also, which he can include on the site if he sees fit. Time Machines is a precise description of the aesthetic experience available to the listener, whether entheogens(psychedelic drugs) are utilized or not. Listening to the recording I find it to relate to J.W. Dunne's theories regarding a "timeless realm" within his notion of Serial Time(outlined in his book "An Experiment With Time"). I get a similar experience listening to Indian drone-based music, which was hugely influential on drone composition in the sixties(La Monte Young, Tony Conrad, Terry Riley, et al). It is too engaging to be described as Ambient(as defined by Eno, at least). Anybody who has experimented with entheogens will acknowledge that temporal perception can be warped beyond belief; I consider this recording as a non-chemical method of inducing such altered states. Its musical language is that of the mystics & artists, etc who have entered such timeless realms or have had trans-time perceptions.(see Ouspensky's "A New Model of The Universe" & the time-based plays of J.B. Priestley, from where I also drew inspiration for much of Tactile's work. I would especially recommend Priestley's "Time and The Conways & other plays" which is easy to find in paperback. Also Priestley's post-Ouspenskian work "Time and Western Man") Regards, John EVerall. > btw, i do like LSD quite a bit but my fav is Horse Rotorvator, closely > followed by Protection...
