"The Day My Favorite Insect Died" (actually on Kollaps, licensed in the US to Bingo) features the following bands: Blond, Snowe, King Rollo, Rayon, Console, Anna Karenina, Cobra 2000, Village of Savoonga, Orgon, and Schneider, most of whom share the same members. There are no weak tracks, IMO; the range of sound is astonishing. 2 Blond contributions sound remotely similar to Autechre circa _Garbage ep_ with a touch of Mego-esque static noise and drones. Snowe track is d'n'b. Rayon: gamelan-like percussive pieces (one is more ambient than the other). Console (3 tracks) are probably most IDMish: "minimal techno" in a vein of current Cologne sound. Etcetera. 19 tracks, 72 minutes, low domestic price (if you live in the US)($8.99 in some Boston stores) --- you simply can't go wrong. As Lance said, check with Bentcrayon. Or Forced Exposure. Other Payola releases worth looking into are, IMO, Tied and Tickled Trio's self-titled CD(also relesed in the US by Bingo; *electronica* meets jazz) and Console's _Pan Or Ama_. Dmitry
