Got the new Wire magazine today, where they have a 4 page interview on
Sqaurepusher, testing him out on their 'Invisible Jukebox' quiz. and
although Tom was talking about, at first, other musicians tracks, it proved
quite an illuminating study into the workings of Tom's own mind, quite the
most interesting interview I've ever read of him.

and in the current backlash against Tom on this list, where there seems to
be a flood of letters dissing his new album, well, ... each to his own
n'all that, everyone has differing opinions ... I personally love it, but
then I'm deep into jazz as well ... but the argument that someone
purported, on a point that I had mentioned in my Tom at Anokha review,
where I said if one HAD to make any kind of aural reference pointer, then
I'd say Herbie Hancock/Miles Davis circa 71/72 ... and some people where
saying 'How dare you compare Tom to them? he doesn't come anywhere close
...' Well, a point worth remembering, Miles and Herbs both had a classical
music education, plus they both had many years of practise behind them when
they produced these works ... Tom is still only 23!

When I compared his music to these 2 jazz greats, I meant it in the way
that they all explored the space musically, a similar expansive vision ...

There is also a large article on Bjork, Thomas Fehlmann and John Mayer in
this issue of Wire.

ps: dint make it to catch dem VVMers in action unfortunately, as my mum and
dad are in town and when we were in Covent Garden, when I was dying to hit
Rough Trade, my dad needed my help to find the shop where he could stock up
on his Bagpipe dressing oil, which he can't get over in Spain, so I had to
miss da VVMers for the sake of my dad's bleedin bagpipes! :(

but my friend went down there for 2pm, but then when there was no sign of
them, he trekked off to Berwick St, then got back for 2.30, where he still
couldn't see them, asked the Rough Trade lads behind da corner what was up,
where were they? and they all cracked up, were pissin themselves laffin,
pointing over in the corner, saying 'There they are, go and ask em to play
"Mouldy ol Dough" for us all again, thats our FAVE!' and they all cracked
up again! Shitbags, wish I'd caught em now, sounded a right laff ... and
he said i'd have definitely liked em too, as they're all reeeallly tall and
looked well cool! Humph!
