ermmmm, this canNOT be the same PCM that greg is talking about.

this is one i know of. i'm still not quite sure
what P.C.M. stands for (literally)...but figuratively,
(when i play word association with PCM)...i think DARK
drum & bass.

they did have a 12" on Mick's possible label. in fact, it
was the first release on said label:

PCM
1996, Possible (UK)
DOSS 12001
12"
A: Year Zero
B: In the Cooler

the label says: written and produced by PCM.
"Year Zero" is the better of the two tracks,
has kind of steppy beat to it, but the BASS.
oh my...very up-front a la David Kristian
doing his "Ectopic Beat" EP on drop beat.
the bass seems to drown out a lot of the sound
actually...and it's deep as fuck. "...Cooler"
doesn't really do much for me. not as innately
dark as the a-side.

the PCM remix of Scorn ('95) is well WIKKED as
fuck with a capital "W"....i'm sure most of you
know this. aptly titled, the "Nightmare" mix.
this is where i first heard PCM. some brilliantly
spooky shite here. i was impressed....ergo, i
bought the Possible 12.

then we get to their track on Avantgardism 2
called "Varney" (written and produced by N.Harvey
and N.Wells????)...much more like the Scorn
remix than their stuff on Possible, but not
as dramatic and unforgiving as the Scorn remix
IMHO. this track's a true dark-stepper, much
in the vein of No U-Turn material. very steady
...very dark...but not as many hooks and changes
as the Scorn rmx. doesn't take as many chances.
still a fine track though.

i'm sure there must be MORE from this outfit...
just not sure where.

there, i've said my peace.
adieu.
