Playing catchup with a mini-review of an album from this past year that in spots (and thus the cross post) is both ambient and idm in my book... (besides them being a "rock band")... The Swirlies: Strictly East Coast Sneaky Flute Music- This is the "usual" scrumptuous Swirlies shoe gaze guitar meets lofi electronics, my bloody valentine-esque, sonic youth-ish, sporting the toungue in cheek but with serious faces look, indie post rock stuff- BUT -with added input from DJ Spooky and DJ Soulslinger (and others). Yes kids- the swirlies have now added jungle to their repertoire, along with some very nice droney guitar with throbbing trancy rhythm lo fi electronic stuff. sneaky flute music indeed :) sorry but thats about as good as my reviews get... (why there are so few of them ;) -thad
